Sports Betting

Gambling has been around for centuries if not longer. People look to win it big on games of chance like poker, roulette, and the ever-popular slot machines. Sometimes they hit the jackpot but often the players go for broke in the end. For professionals with years of experience and knowledge of the game, the payouts can be massive, but a casual player will have to get lucky to win it big. But what if there was a way to bet on something that you may know a little better than the numbers game behind blackjack or Texas hold 'em? What if just by following your favorite sporting events you could strike riches? Well, now you can. Well...you always could just not legally under federal law. In May of last year, the Supreme Court reversed a previous ban which has now allowed states to introduce their own legislation to allow betting for sporting events. The sports betting industry has been reported to be a multi-billion dollar industry so many states have acted quickly in trying to pass legislation to help bring in sports gambling which could easily make a massive increase in the economic environment in a state or city. One exciting prospect that has been mentioned is that when enough states have pushed through the correct bills then professional leagues can start doing their own betting games. This may be traditional wagers on the over/under or on the money line or could be introduced as prop bets. How cool would it be to sit watching an NBA game and be able to wager $5, $20, $100, however much you desire on something like "Will the next basket scored be a 2 or 3 point basket?" You choose your answer while watching live on TV or at the game and based on if you were correct or not you win or lose. I am personally excited about this new step in sports entertainment because now I can use my knowledge of sports to potentially win some money. I won't have to learn how to read my opponent or count cards like a card shark in Vegas, all I'd have to do is sit back and watch sports like i probably would've been doing anyway.
